High School Graduation Requirements
To earn a high school diploma from Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, students must pass 220 credits in the following areas:

Students must pass three years of Social Science which shall include: - One year of World History or AP World History - One year of US History or AP US History - One semester of American Government or AP American Government One semester of Economics |

Students must pass four years of English.

Mathematics ("C") |
Students must pass two years of math (the equivalent of Algebra I and Geometry) - Math I - Math II |

Science ("D") | Students must pass two years of college prep laboratory science in at least two of the three disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. |

Foreign Language ("E") |
Students must pass at least two years of the same language other than English.

Visual & Performing Arts ("F") | Students must pass one year from Digital Media I, II, III, Chicano Theater, Advanced Digital Media, or Actors Studio. | 10 |
Electives ("G") | Students must take at least 80 units of credit in elective areas. Students may select elective courses in the following areas: English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Visual and Performing Arts. Advisory and Tutorial courses also count towards elective credits. | 80 |

Additional Requirements:
- Students are highly encouraged to complete 100 hours of community service.
